Dominican Republic Family Trip 2017

Our 2017 Dominican Republic Family Trip was a huge success, with over 30 families joining us for this exciting trip.  Look for a recap of this years trip with pictures soon.

Coach teaches young player proper glove techniqueOur Annual Family Trip to the Dominican Republic will be February 16th to 20th, 2017. This is the best, international youth baseball program on the island. This trip is for ballplayers ages 6 to 15 who are looking to compete against some of the best players their age, anywhere and expand their horizons. Ballplayers must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian.  A full support team of our best coaches will be on hand providing top-flight, personal service.

Our local hosts are the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception who have been working with the Consuelo community to build programs of social uplift for more than 50 years. We will take some time to visit their new Senior Home for retired sugar cane field workers.  Our other host will be the ImpActa Foundation, a dynamic youth program founded by Seattle Mariners third base coach and Consuelo native Manny Acta.  We will be spending the day on the fields of the ImpActa Foundation which provides baseball and educational programming to many local peloteros!

We expect to welcome more than 30 families from around the United States and Canada. We will be joined daily by more than 50-75 local players of similar ages.  Our coaching staff will be comprised of veteran HRBC coaches and a strong group of local coaches, with many years experience in Major League baseball.  Luis Noel, a full-time Baltimore Orioles scout, will also be on hand everyday as one of our lead coaches.  You will not find a better staff with more character. Period.

We will be spending the day in Consuelo, just outside San Pedro de Macoris, on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic which sends more players to professional baseball, per capita, than any nation on Earth. Big Leaguers from Consuelo through the years include Rico Carty, Pepe Frias, Julio Franco, Sammy Sosa, Albert Lois, Juan Samuel, Alfredo Griffin and Mariano Duncan, among others.

We recommend families stay at the Hodelpa Garden Suites in Juan Dolio, about 25 minutes from Las Americas Airport. We have secured a special group rate which includes a full breakfast service (Complete Hotel information is below).

Ballplayers can expect a full day of training, practice, and two live games per day in a full hustle atmosphere. We mix the players up each day within their age groups.

Our coaches are here to teach, motivate and help each player maximize their time. Any player who wants individual instruction on any aspect of the game simply needs to ask. We will enjoy a home-cooked Dominican lunch each day served at ImpActa alongside our Dominican teammates.

  • Families may choose from a selection of local restaurants in addition to the hotel dinner.  Our trip transportation consultant Lucas Soriano or the front desk can arrange transportation to and from local eateries.
  • Coach Mac’s recommendations: “I prefer a home cooked Dominican meal with a frost covered Presidente right out of the bottle, but when I do eat out I go to Estrellas Parador, an outstanding roadside joint serving quality, fresh and inexpensive authentic Dominican cuisine. About 20 minutes down the road. If my wife and I want to take it up a notch- we take an outdoor table at the outstanding restaurant El Meson. Minutes from our hotel on the beach in Juan Dolio. You will not have a bad meal at either spot.”
